This book explains methods to detect invalid test results using the Halstead-Reitan Neuropsychological Test Battery.  The methods include comparison of intra-individual test scores and comparison of the results of two (or more) testings.

The authors describe two quantitative approaches – The Retest Consistency Index and the Response Consistency Index.  These scores are then used to compute the Dissimulation Index.  In a sample of 40 head injury patients (20 litigating and 20 non-litigating), there was no overlap in the scores of the 2 groups.  The litigating group scored ~20 points higher than the non-litigating group.

The book includes 12 cases examples and an appendix with instructions for scoring the indexes they describe.
